The Rise of Edtech Industry: A Literature-based Study on AI and its Applications in the Education Sector

Author: Sunil Medepalli - Independent Researcher

ABSTRACT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is spuriously growing, transforming all business sectors and industries. The Education Sector or industry has undergone a drastic change with the introduction of AI too. AI in the education system is also regarded as revolutionary. It makes learning easier, offers freedom to automate repetitive tasks, and other benefits but its integration into education is a challenge in itself. With changes in the education system, and with the evolving technology, education as an industry is fast moving to new realms of possibilities where AI will continue to play a significant role in personalizing education experiences. This paper provides an overview of the literature on AI and education with a focus on AI evolution, models, and its applications in EdTech. It aims to identify the impact AI has on the current education system with a due focus on evolving education policies, the need for innovative education content, tech-driven assessment, and the evolving teaching and learning landscape. It also provides insights into the trends in pedagogics, challenges, and future perspectives regarding the use of this technology in education.
